Archie Stayathome

Archie Stayathome, a proud Cherokee man born on April 19, 1937, peacefully passed away on April 29, 2024. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served his country with honor in the United States Army, reaching the rank of SP4 before his discharge on April 17, 1962.

Archie cherished his Cherokee heritage, fluently speaking the language and holding his ancestry in high regard. He was a dedicated father to his daughter Tammie Hannah and son Lloyd Stayathome, embodying honesty and integrity in all aspects of his life.

After his military service, Archie devoted over two decades to transporting children as a bus driver for Peavine School and later spent another two decades delivering propane to families across various counties. His hard work and dedication left a lasting impact on the community.

In his passing, Archie is reunited with his beloved wife, Navada Stayathome, his parents Mary and Lloyd, one sister, four brothers, and two grandchildren, Lala Durossette and Miles Durossette, who preceded him in death.

Archie's legacy lives on through his daughters Tammie (Aaron) Hannah and Betty (Carl "Bo") Welch, sons Lloyd (Melanie) Stayathome, Roger (Debbie) Yandell, Frank (Yvette) Durossette, Johnny (April) Durossette, Donnie (Joyce) Durossette, his 21 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, two sisters Wanda Hudson and Linda (Mark) Lindsey, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends along with the memories he created with all who knew him.

A Funeral Service to honor Archie's life will be held at Hart Funeral Home in Stilwell, OK on May 3rd, 2024, at 2:00 pm, following a Public Viewing at Hart Funeral Home scheduled for May 2nd, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will take place at England Hollow Cemetery with Military Honors in Stilwell, OK following the Service.

His dedication to his family, community, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May his soul rest in peace.
