Bob Bateman

March 10, 1919 — November 30, 2019

Bob Bateman decided it was time to say good-bye. He leaves behind a big empty space for our family to fill. He lived a full, long life; an entire century filled with so many happy moments and achievements along with some heartbreaking losses. Through it all, his strength, discipline and kindness kept our family together inspiring us to keep moving forward and to celebrate the present. Besides being a husband, father, grandfather….. He was also a hardworking businessman with a strong love for his family.

Bob Bateman grew up in the small town of Stilwell, Oklahoma where he met and married Velta Geneva Briggs. Bob joined the Navy where he learned the electrical trade. The Navy brought Bob & Geneva to Coronado, CA. They thrived in Coronado as successful business owners; opening Bateman’s Window & Shades and Oscar’s Drive-In. They enjoyed Coronado but missed their family roots in Stilwell. Bob & Geneva eventually made their way back home to Stilwell where they purchased a property with lots of land; a beautiful home, barn, a creek, and 4 chicken houses. Bob Bateman would reinvent himself as a chicken farmer; raising 140,000 chickens annually for Tyson. In addition, he became well known as the master electrician in Stilwell. If you had an electrical problem, Bob Bateman was your man! He enjoyed working on the farm and having his grandkids and great grandkids come enjoy it over many summers….so many fun memories.

After retirement, Bob enjoyed time with his family, doing electrical jobs and visiting friends/patients at the local convalescent home; lifting their spirits with his humor and jovial smile as he would never pass up an opportunity to make someone smile. Bob would later move to Springdale, Arkansas. He resided at The Gardens at Arkanshire where he enjoyed time with friends and the wonderful staff. His beautiful soul touched many and he leaves behind an everlasting legacy of strong will and kindness.
His family thanks him for his unwavering love, holding us during the storms and encouraging us to work hard and dream big.
