Charles Dean Burks On April 20, 2023 Charles Dean Burks departed his life and entered his heavenly home at the age of 83. He was a resident of the Titanic community in Adair county. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Welling General Baptist Church. He was affectionately known to his family as Charlie.
Charlie was born on April 6, 1940 in Hindsville, Arkansas, to parents Jess William and Chloe (Redmon) Burks. He grew up in the Hindsville area and attended the Hindsville School System. Charlie worked for Wilson’s Inc. now know as Tyson Foods before going to work for Campbell’s Soup. He also worked for the Cord Auto in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He then owned and operated King Oil Company of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1982, he went to work at Great Plains Coca Coloa in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma until retirement in 2006. He loved to hunt, fish and coach soccer, baseball, and softball with his children. He was a loyal Arkansas Razorback fan.
On March 16, 1968, Charlie married Jennifer Sue Vick at Titanic, Adair county. The couple made their home in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Springdale, Arkansas before moving to Titanic, Oklahoma in 2006.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Darrell and Michael Burks; one daughter Danetta Burks; siblings Blanche Hill, Walter Burks, Donald Burks, Lewis Burks, Elmer Burks and Margie Baker.
Survivors include his wife Jennifer of the home; two daughters Danielle Burks of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, LaDonna Sharp of Springdale, Arkansas; one son Dewayne Black and wife Marie of Rogers, Arkansas; in-laws, Larry Vick and wife Patty of Bates City, Missouri, Darrell Baird and wife, Tawna, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Aubrey Vick and wife Diane, of Welling, Oklahoma and Gerry Vick of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters Ruby Shepherd of Goshen, Arkansas, Marlene Stamps and husband Gerald of Springdale, Arkansas, six grandchildren Jared Sharp, Christopher Sharp, Mason Burks and mother Roxanne Mai, Mandy Arrington, Ricky Black, and J.J. Black; nine great grandchildren Brendon Sharp, Bayleigh Sharp, Allulah Sharp, Brayton Black, Shelby Black, Kenna Black, Kaleb Black, Emma Franklin and Aubrey Franklin; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Freewater Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Freewater Cemetery with Bro. Kevin Davis officiating, under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home.
Visitation hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 27, 2023 with the family receiving friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Hart Funeral Home in Stilwell, Oklahoma.
