Dorotha Smith

Dorotha Louise Smith the daughter of Elmer and Annah (Sutton) Thurber was born on January 20, 1935 in Adair County and departed this life on April 8, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 19 days.

Louise loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting and going out to eat. She was a member of the Trinity Full Gospel Church and she loved going to church and serving the Lord. Louise ran several different businesses in Stilwell but most known were the Firestone and The Trotline. Though there may have been others in charge, she was the boss. Louise touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Debra Gouker; her husband Bob Smith, her special companion of many years, James Collins, her brothers Larry Don Thurber and Leonard Thurber and an infant sister, Christina Thurber.

She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Jerry Matlock and wife Janice of Tahlequah and Jeri Lynn Bird and husband Michael of Stilwell; her sister Lowee Ferrell and husband Gene of Rocky Mountain; her grandchildren Larry Matlock, Jerry Matlock Jr., Jimmy Matlock, Jenny Crew, Justin Brown, Marissa Matlock, Chasity Bird, Michael Bird Jr., and Kynzie Bird; 7 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and 5 great-great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jim Noble officiating. Interment will follow at Caney Cemetery under the care and direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
