Elsie Ann Niman, daughter of Tuck and Fanny (Rose) Workman, was born February 1, 1926 in Washington County, Arkansas and passed from this life on June 14, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Elsie was one of twelve children. She married Calvin Niman in August of 1946 and their union was blessed with two daughters, Jeneva and Patrica. Since she had no grandchildren her dogs, Abby and Tippy were like family. Her family was her primary love and she remained close to them all.
She was a great seamstress and made all of her daughters' clothes as children and taught them both how to sew. When they were grown, she made custom drapes for Ken Sasser's Custom Drapes in Tulsa for many years; continuing this work even after Calvin retired. She refused to give up her sewing machine even when her eyesight failed in her later years.
She and Calvin loved to go out to eat with their friends and then play cards and dominoes. Elsie loved to read and enjoyed a good mystery. She also became interested in landscape gardening. She was "someone to count on" and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tuck and Fanny Workman, her husband, Calvin Niman, her daughter, Patrica Berquist, and her siblings, Viola Doherty, Faye Rusten, Tom, Howard, Calvin, Charlie, John, Jim, Bill and Dick Workman.
Her surviving family includes, her daughter and son-in-law, Jeneva (Jenny) Niman and Randy Crook; sister, Bonnie Johnson of Guthrie, OK and a sister-in-law, Sara Workman of Stilwell; special friends, Victor and Betty Trusty and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Brian S. Kester officiating. Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery in Natural Dam, Arkansas under the care and directions of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
