Frankie Darlene Hargis the daughter of Michael Frank Hargis and Susan Charmaine Young was born July 19, 1965, in Claremore, Oklahoma and departed this life on August 15, 2021, in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 56 years, and 27 days.
Frankie graduated from Stilwell High School and went onto Northeastern State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education. She spent her working career with the Cherokee Nation in various positions: data entry, Adult Education Teacher, Tribal Council and most recently Tribal Registrar. She also served on the Inter Tribal Council, Cherokee Nation Housing Authority Advisory Board, FCC Native Nations Communications Task Force, and the Adair County Trust Authority Board.
She raised her two sons with all the love she could give them. She enjoyed watching them play ball and grow into the fine men they are. She was very proud of the husbands and fathers they are. Her greatest joy has been her grandchildren. Spending time with them, watching them grow, and making memories. Frankie served her community and touched many lives over the years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Michael Frank Hargis and Susan Young; her step-father Johnny Marlin; her grandmother Julia Ann Rider Young and her grandfather Richard Young.
She is survived by a loving family which includes her sons Travis Thomas and wife Maranda of Stilwell, and Tyler Thomas and wife Madison of Prairie Grove; her grandchildren Brycee Thomas, Braxton Thomas, Evan Thomas, Chandler Thomas and Theodore Smith Thomas; her sisters Kristy Young of Stilwell and Julia Lynn Carlton and husband Mark of Dallas; and her brothers Steven Hargis and wife Shamekah of Westville and Michael Hargis and wife Carrie of Stilwell. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
