Josephine Delay

Josephine Mae DeLay, was born October 5, 1930, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, to Lamb and Callie Holmes Wolf. Surrounded by a loving family, she went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2014, at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 84 years.

Josephine was married to Fred DeLay and together they raised their 13 children. She loved to sing and was a member of the Cherokee choir group, Native Praise. Josephine was a sweet, kind person who loved to help others. Her greatest joys were found during the time spent with her grandchildren. Because of her great love for children, she served as a foster parent many times. She was a wonderful cook, an avid Elvis fan and never missed an episode of the Young and the Restless. Josephine was a member of Fourkiller Baptist Church.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Fred DeLay, of the home her children, Clifford Doublehead and Brenda, of Tahlequah, William Doublehead, David Doublehead and Betty, all of Stilwell, Michael Doublehead and Donna, of Tahlequah, Patricia Goldman and Roger, Sharon Ogden and David, Mark Doublehead and Loretta, all of Stilwell, Michael DeLay, of Phoenix, AZ, Judith Hanson and Ronald, of Eugene, OK, Steve DeLay and Tammy, of Falls, MT, John DeLay and Cindy, of Falls, MT, Greg DeLay and Anna, of Stilwell siblings, Sampson Bo Wolf and Rita, Bill Wolfe and Jennie, Nora Bunch and Ben, all of Stilwell 46 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren and 4 greatgreat grandchildren. Many other relatives, friends and loved ones also survive her.

Josephine is preceded in death by her parents, Lamb and Callie Wolf, daughter, Carolyn Price, sisters, Janet Taylor, Lydia Wolfe and Brenda Wolfe, brothers, Lamb Wolfe, Cecil Wolfe, William Reid Wolfe and stepmother, Johnann Wolfe.
