Melissa Diane Hamor, a beloved daughter, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on September 30, 1962, in Stilwell, Oklahoma, she grew up in the heart of this close-knit community and graduated from Stilwell High School, where she made lasting memories and friendships that would last a lifetime.
For many years, Melissa dedicated herself to her work, contributing her talents and passion as a member of the teams at Stilwell Foods and Greenleaf. Most fondly remembered, however, are her 26 years as a cook at Marietta School, where she nourished the bodies and souls of countless students, sharing not just meals but love and encouragement.
A devoted member of the Baron Church of Christ, Melissa found strength and solace within her faith, which guided her throughout her life. She was also a passionate Kansas City Chiefs football fan, proudly cheering for her team with enthusiasm. In quieter moments, she delighted in playing Yahtzee and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be forever held close to their hearts.
Melissa is preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband Willie Frank, and her cherished nephew, Derrick Miller. She is survived by her two sons, Matthew Brown and William Frank Hamor; her grandchildren Trenton Brown, Tristan Spry, Sadie Johnson, and Lily Hamor; her sisters Connie and Lydia, along with her brothers Fred and Danny. Together, her family remembers her as a person full of warmth, kindness, and resilience.
In celebration of Melissa’s life, a reception will be held at Hart Funeral Home in Stilwell on January 3, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This gathering will provide an opportunity for family and friends to share stories, reflect on cherished memories, and honor the incredible woman she was.
Melissa will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends, reminding us of the love, joy, and laughter she brought into our lives.
