On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, Nellie Evelyn Hogner Hart, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 11 days. The daughter of Levi and Cora Belle (Sisco) Hogner, she was born June 6, 1927, in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
Evelyn was a hard worker her whole life, raising her children and working a full-time job until she was 86. In the early 1960's, during the American Indian relocation era, the family was relocated to California, where she stayed for 35 years before moving back to Oklahoma. Employed first as a waitress in California and then as a cashier at Walmart in Arkansas until 2013, it was only an injury that stopped her from working - she would have worked until she was 90 if she had her say. She enjoyed life and loved sitting on her porch, swinging on her swing and watching the birds at her bird feeders. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making home-cooked meals for her family, who would visit her throughout the week. Evelyn enjoyed journaling, and little bits of her musings, whether it was bible passages, recipes she found and wanted to cook, or notes about her and her family's daily lives could be found tucked in drawers and calendars. She loved going to church, and she enjoyed gospel and country music. Evelyn touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Miles Leland Hart; her sons Tem Jr. and William Ketcher; and her brothers Winfred Lee and Athel Buck Hogner.
She is survived by a loving family which includes her children Dennis Ketcher and companion Astrid Aberg of Stilwell, Carolyn Bluestone and husband Marc of New Town, ND, Joycelyn Debler of Westville, and Patricia Lippert of Altadena, CA; 19 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive her.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Fairfield Baptist Church in Stilwell. Interment will follow at Piney Cemetery, where she is with her two sons who preceded her.
"When the day arrives that there are no more tomorrows for me, I want my children to know and never forget that they were, are, and always will be deeply loved by me."
