Roy Lee Thompson was born on May 26, 1945, in Keota, Oklahoma, to Leo Thompson and Virginia (Ward) Thompson Smith. He died Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at his home in the Fairfield community near Stilwell, Oklahoma surrounded by his family.
Roy graduated from Stilwell High School and Northeastern State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in Industrial Arts. He worked a variety of jobs including auto repair, canning retort operator, construction, and factory line work. While enrolled in college he enlisted in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and trained in demolition and served six years.
He is survived by his wife Susie; children Dana (Jack) Mann, Phillip (Amy), Emily; grandchildren Jared Mann, Vivien Mann, Anna (Jacob) Fuson, Autumn, Nick Lister, Chase Jurumbo; great grandson Alastir Fuson, Clayton Fuson, Rylan Lister; brother Donald (Carolyn) Thompson, sister June Foster (husband Steve Watkins) and sister-in-law Betty (Jack) Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Lee Smith, his half-brother Russell Thompson, his brother Jack Thompson, his sister Daphna Thompson, and his grandson Nicholas Mann.
Graveside observance commemoration will be held at Tyler Springs, northeast of Stilwell on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.
